Natural beauty everywhere

In the late morning we went for a walk in a really great park, where many others were also walking and cycling. I let each of the dogs off the leash; there were no cars around here. Then later two bicycle police officers came, who kindly and politely asked me to put them on a leash. This led to Zserbo getting into a proper scuffle with another male dog. Luckily the other dog’s owner was very reasonable. He said his dog is also dominant (as it also turned out about my little Zserbo), and well, there are those challengers with whom they have to show their teeth. I hate this, I can’t help it. We managed to untangle the leashes and nobody got hurt. It was more smoke than fire.

After the walk I decided we’d visit Cassis, on the Mediterranean Sea. It’s a very cute little town, with a population of around 6,700, and it has beautiful natural features. From the parking lot we could go straight down to a tiny little cove on the beach, where three people were sunbathing, while I stared nonstop at the breathtaking mountain, the turquoise water and the waves. This view is total relaxation. With great difficulty I tore myself away from it and we walked down to the harbor area. We weren’t the only ones there, but it wasn’t crowded at all; it was pleasantly busy. Here too we went down to the water; several people were sunbathing and reading on the pebbly shore. Two people were swimming and even doing laps. Sailboats—normal-sized ones—were rocking on the water, and guests were eating and drinking on the restaurants’ terraces. I also picked a place I liked, tied the dogs to a table and sat down. In front of me were the sailboats, and in the distance the dazzling mountain. A couple sat at the neighboring table. Panka stood in such a way that the young woman couldn’t resist and started petting her. She asked me in French if it was allowed. I told her of course. They had come from Grenoble for a few days; they live southeast of Lyon, at the foot of the Alps. We had a nice chat in English and they wished me a very good trip and lovely experiences. While I ate lunch, the dogs sunbathed and rested beside me.

Today Zserbo didn’t disappear—he just got into a fight with another dog. Panka was almost boringly perfect. I love that she’s like this. We got home at half past four. I fed the four-legged ones, caught up on what I’d missed, and rested, listening to music.
