While packing the suitcases, bags, and boxes, I took a photo of every single layer so I’d know what I’d find where. I don’t recognize myself! I’ve never been this organized :o)
We set off at half past nine. In Balatonakarattya we stopped for a short walk and to collect some sniffing material; the furry ones also checked their messages. Everyone was happy and calm and the great adventure could begin.
We arrived in Ljubljana at 15:20. There’s a canal here too, like in Strasbourg—really cool. First I parked somewhere near the apartment and walked with the doggies to our accommodation. I found that opposite the gate, on the other side of the road, there’s a parking lot. They charge 24 euros for a day, but alone, with two dogs and lots of luggage, this kind of luxury has to fit in. I fed the doggies, then left them at home because I had a dinner invitation. One of Kata’s Slovenian colleagues-friends lives in Ljubljana and she happened to be home. We know each other; we’ve met several times. Years ago Andreja and her husband even came to us in Lovas for a wine tasting. They’re very kind.
People are walking along the streets and by the canal, sitting outside in the restaurants next to/under the patio heaters. It’s a very pleasant city.
Dinner was great; we talked and laughed a lot. Then, based on their directions, I walked home alone. The doggies were without me for 4 hours in an unfamiliar place and they get a five-star grade for completing the task.
Tomorrow it's off to Genoa!
